Final Royal Canadian Pacific Fly Fishing train trip

August 17 - August 20

I guided John and his wife, Bonnie on the second and final Royal Canadian Pacific Fly Fishing train trip of the season. Day one was a slow day on the Bow with only a couple of fish landed. Day two saw us on an Oldman River walk and wade which got of to a great start as we threw flies to rising cutthroat trout. Things quickly slowed down and we ended up finishing off the day on the Crowsnest River.

We saw a number fish but couldn't interest them in any of the flies we presented to them. Days three and four had us fishing the Elk River in the Fernie. Our first day on the Elk began slowly and picked up as the water warmed up. We ended up having a very good day with all fish were taken on a variety of dry flies. Our final day on the Elk was a cooler day and while we had occasional hits on dry flies, all fish were landed using streamers. John hooked this nice bull trout along a deep bank. A good number of cutthroat trout were also landed today.
