Drifting along the Bow

Eric and his father, Wes, are in Calgary from California for a day and wanted to drift the Bow before heading to the Elk River for a few more days of fishing. Their plan originally was to spend a day on the Livingstone River but the trunk road along the Livingstone is still closed due to the extreme fire hazard. The weather today was much improved and and it was much more pleasant drifiting from Policeman's Flats to McKinnon Flats under sunny skies. This section of the Bow was a little slower than it was earlier in the week but we still enjoyed some good fishing action. Today we landed fish on a zebra midge, the San Juan worm, a caddis larva, and a parachute Adams. The highlight of the day had to be stopping to fish for a big rainbow slurpping flies along a foam line. Eric fished for close to 15 minutes before the fish finally took the hook. Unfortunately one of the hooks got snagged and the fish got loose. Both Eric and Wes lost a couple of very nice fish that looked to be well over 20".
